Middleton, Suffolk

4

This 17th century oak-framed cottage is ideal for anyone who wants a break in traditional accommodation in the Suffolk countryside. With a wonderful location in the village of Middleton, the property retains many original features, such as beautiful low beams in the sitting room and a roaring wood burning stove, together with up to date amenities to ensure a wonderful break.

Sleeping four guests, the cottage is perfect for family holidays and for couples wanting a romantic hideaway.

Close to the centre of the village, but set well back from the road, the cottage has good sized gardens (enclosed to the rear) and parking for two cars.

Internally the accommodation has a beamed sitting/dining room with a stone floor and a cosy wood burning stove, a ground floor twin bedroom and shower room, well equipped kitchen and steep stairs to the master bedroom with additional shower room

Middleton is fantastically situated to enjoy the bird and wildlife watching opportunities on the Suffolk Coast. There are a number of paths from the village towards the coast and the RSPB reserve at Minsmere. The area along the coast is part of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and there are circular walks to enjoy from the village. If you need a little refreshment on the way head to the Eel’s Foot in Eastbridge before continuing your walk. The Middleton Bell will give you a warm welcome when you get back.

There are a number of pretty coastal towns to explore both north and south of Middleton. Heading north, Walberswick and Southwold are each side of the mouth of the River Blyth and there is a foot ferry connecting the two. Walberswick is famous for crabbing whilst Southwold is home to the Adnams Brewery amongst other things. Aldeburgh and Orford are on the River Alde. Aldeburgh is closely associated with the music of Benjamin Britten. Snape Maltings is further up the Alde and is home to the concert hall and Aldeburgh Music along with a number of shops, restaurants and cafes.

There is a huge amount to explore along the Suffolk Coast and you can have a busy time. However, when you return at the end of the day to the cottage you can relax in the comfortable surroundings and take some time to enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside.
