Fairnilee House is an impressive Edwardian mansion located in Galashiels, Scottish Borders, offering accommodation for up to 12 guests in its 6 bedrooms. Set in 380 acres of landscaped gardens, wildflower gardens, park, and woodland, the house features original period details and Edwardian decor throughout. The Scottish Baronial mansion was designed by architect John James Burnett and boasts corner towers, crow-stepped gables, and red sandstone dressings adorned with gargoyles.
The ground floor of the house includes a country-style kitchen, formal dining room, drawing room, morning room, library, and cloakroom, providing ample space for large groups to gather or find solitude. The lower ground floor offers additional entertainment options such as a cinema room, snooker table, study, children's playroom, gym, and table tennis room. Upstairs, the first floor houses four principal bedrooms, each with its own charm and en-suite bathroom, while the second floor features a twin bedroom and a dormitory-style bedroom ideal for children.
Outside, guests can enjoy a two-acre walled garden with formal and wildflower gardens, lawns, and the ruins of Old Fairnilee. A terrace with dining furniture and a gas barbecue is perfect for al fresco dining, and a badminton net is available for guest use. The extensive parkland and woodland surrounding the house are ideal for exploring. Amenities such as luxurious bed linen, towels, and guest amenities are provided, along with Wi-Fi, heating, and a landline. Dogs are welcome for an additional charge, and three dogs are allowed on the lower ground and ground floors.
Guests can enjoy privacy during their stay, as two flats in the far wing of the property are retained by the family for occasional use.
