The house is steeped in history, as it is the property that inspired Mary Ann Evans, also known as George Eliot, to write her first novel in 1857.

Upon entering Gwynne House, guests are greeted by high ceilings and original wooden floors. The dining room offers picturesque views of the Harbour and North Beach, while the snug provides a cozy spot to store coats and shoes. The property features a large family bathroom with a roll-top bath, walk-in shower, double sink, toilet, washing machine, and tumble dryer. The kitchen is fully equipped with a double oven, American fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and breakfast bar.

The first floor of the house includes the George Elliot room with a double bed and WC, while the second floor boasts a lounge with stunning views, as well as the John Gwynne suite with a superking bed and en-suite shower. The third floor features the Caldey suite with twin beds and an en-suite, as well as St. Catherine's suite with a double bed and en-suite. The top floor offers two twin bedrooms with shared WC.
