The private drive to Weir House is flanked by yew hedges, and leads to a formal gravelled forecourt with box hedges and topiary and a huge magnolia growing up over the front door. Once through the door, the flagstone entrance hall with stairs leading up to a galleried landing is lit by a round oeil de boeuf window and a large hall lantern. ThereÕs a much loved rocking horse, a dollÕs house in a little alcove in the hall, and under the stairs, the childrenÕs den, with dressing-up clothes and a puppet theatre. Through to the spacious kitchen and dining room with its ten foot antique pine-topped table and impressive sideboard. For those wishing to use Weir House as the main hub for family gatherings, further seating for up to 30 guests can be provided in this room. The large kitchen with its sociable granite topped central island is well-equipped with a large American style fridge/freezer, range oven and two dishwashers, providing all you need for creating wonderful celebration meals together. At the far end of the dining room is an archway through to the oak-floored television room, which is dominated by a 82? flat screen television with surround sound, a wall of bookshelves and comfortable sofas and armchairs, ideal for relaxing in together after dinner.
Large wooden double doors and two steps lead down into the grand drawing room. Elegant soft furnishings surround the large Gothic arched stone fireplace, the perfect place to sit in front of a roaring fire on those winter evenings. The high-pitched ceiling and impressive beams run the full length, making this room the ideal area for the more peaceful elements of your gathering. Two windows on the left look out onto the north terrace, lawn and flower beds and the window and french doors on the right have a view over the south terrace, a deep woodland border and trees. A door to the left of the fireplace leads into a corridor, off which open the three ground floor bedrooms each with their own en-suite bathroom or shower room.
Two further bedrooms are situated on the first floor, up the stairs from the entrance hall. They occupy the full width of the house, with windows facing in both directions and are places of peace and tranquillity. Both have their own en-suite bathrooms with the largest bedroom having a mezzanine style en-suite bathroom, accessed via a steep open staircase. All five bedrooms are elegantly furnished with beautiful handpicked antique pieces which blend perfectly with the modern fittings you would expect in a holiday home.
The private gardens on both sides of the house have formal borders Ð beech and yew hedges and topiary and exuberant planting. The terraces on each side are perfectly positioned to get sun in the morning and afternoon. Children will love the swing and seesaw and grown-ups can enjoy croquet, reading in the hammock, a quiet tte tte in the Italian garden, or a barbecue on the terrace off the kitchen.
Weir House is part of Bruern Cottages and as such, enjoys access to a communal games room, two spa treatment rooms, indoor heated pool and gym area.
