The castle is conveniently situated near Thrunton woods for mountain bikers, the Cheviot Hills for walkers, and Rothbury and Cragside for exploration. The coast and castles of Northumberland are within reach, offering a variety of attractions from Tynemouth Priory to Lindisfarne and Berwick. The castle is on the edge of the Dark Skies national park, providing excellent views of the night sky including the Milky Way and Northern Lights.
