The house features an open fire and has been decorated with furniture and artwork from the owner's former family home in Hertfordshire, including family heirlooms such as maps, artwork, and antiques. Guests are welcome to play the Bechstein Upright piano and enjoy the modern wood-burning stove installed in late 2021.

Bats may be heard scratching around in the roof above the main bedroom at certain times of the year, as they roost in a small space. These bats are completely harmless, endangered, and protected by law. The location of the Old Boys School in Carrshield makes it an ideal base for exploring Hadrian's Wall, the Lake District, Kielder Forest, the Pennine Way, and the C2C cycle route.
