Activities in the area include rowing or fishing on the River Esk, enjoying afternoon tea in a riverside café, feeding ducks by the river, or riding on a miniature steam railway. A five-minute drive takes you to Whitby, with its sandy beaches, historic harbour, famous abbey, cobbled market square, and narrow ginnels.
