Our charming Victorian townhouse in York, North Yorkshire, sleeps four guests in two bedrooms and is located in the popular neighbourhood of Bishophill. The house offers unique views of York's ancient city walls from the living room and master bedroom. The interior features period details such as original sash windows, rustic doors, and cast iron fireplaces, along with quality furnishings and decor.
The open plan living and dining room includes a library, board games, and a 43-inch Smart TV for entertainment. The kitchen is well-equipped for home cooking with gadgets like a hand blender and food processor, a range cooker, and a Nespresso machine. The master bedroom has a double bed and ample storage, while the rear bedroom has a small double bed and USB charging plug socket. The bathroom features a white three-piece suite with a rainfall shower over the bath.
Guests have access to the entire house, with the exception of a few locked cupboards for personal belongings. Street parking is permit-only, with one parking permit provided per night. Check-in is after 4pm, and check-out is before 10am. Additional amenities such as a travel cot and mattress are available upon request for an extra charge. Pets and smoking are not allowed on the property.
The house has historical significance as part of a terrace designed by Victorian architect George Townsend Andrews and is connected to York's confectionary history through French confectioner August Claude Gaget. Guests are encouraged to explore the vibrant Bishopthorpe Road area nearby, with shops and cafes, as well as the city center just a five-minute walk away.
