This striking house has an interesting history; it was designed by the acclaimed architect William Burges and its name stems from its use as a music school. Inside you’ll find a careful restoration that captures much of Burges’ unique style. With five large bedrooms and beautiful communal areas, it’s ideal for those special family get-togethers.
It sits within the 400 acre deer park of the Fountains Abbey estate, so it’s not unusual to see red, fallow and sika deer grazing on the parkland just outside. Watch the deer from the enclosed garden at the front of the cottage before heading out to explore the grounds. You’ll have free access to the Studley Royal Water Gardens as well as the ruins of Fountains Abbey.
Further afield, the historic town of Harrogate is just a 10-mile drive from the house. Enjoy an afternoon tea in one of the many cafes and tea rooms that populate this fashionable spa town. Or for a slightly wilder day out, head to the North York Moors for hikes through its large expanses of heather moorland.
