Located in Watlington, Norfolk in the East of England, Major's Lodge is a unique safari lodge that sleeps 8 guests in 4 bedrooms. Overlooking the lakes and plains of the Watatunga Wildlife Reserve, this single-story lodge offers stunning vistas of exotic deer and antelope species. Guests have exclusive use of a buggy to explore the reserve, making it a special and comfortable place to spend holidays with friends or family.
The wooden safari lodge is fully-accessible, with four bedrooms and a wet room. Guests can watch the endangered herds of animals from the private terrace or the sitting room window. Access to golf buggies allows visitors to drive through the savannah and observe rare wildlife species. A large state-of-the-art bird hide and a newly stocked lake for 'catch and release' fishing are also available on the estate.
Major's Lodge is well-located to explore northwest and north Norfolk. Guests can enjoy alfresco dinners by the lakeside or take a free guided tour of the reserve to learn about conservation efforts and observe water-buffalo, white-stork, and Great Bustard. The lodge features a fully-equipped kitchen, dining room, sitting room with an open fire, and a sunroom that opens onto a private decked terrace.
The accommodation is all on one level, with wheelchair accessibility in bedrooms one and two. Safety is paramount on the reserve, with guests receiving a thorough safety briefing before using the electric buggies. The lodge has a large fully enclosed garden with deep borders for attracting wildlife, synthetic and feather bedding, and access to two golf buggies during the stay.
