Field Barn Cottage

Burnham Market, Norfolk

8

The ultimate 'get away from it all' cottage, surrounded by open farmland, no immediate neighbours and stunning views in every direction, yet less than a mile and a half from the centre of Burnham Market, one of North Norfolk's most desirable villages.Stylishly chilled, unfussy interiors work beautifully to reflect the sublime uninterrupted landscape that embraces it.

Approached via an unmade road, and originally two early Victorian cottages, now Field Barn Cottage combines the two with extensions at either end that complement the whole. More recently the ground floor was opened up to create an open-plan contemporary, 'clean' light-filled sociable living space and encourage ease of movement. The essence of the barn is hip, modern and very cool - the kitchen is handmade, the wood floors reclaimed and designer furniture is the order of the day, highlighted with modern artworks and music posters dotted around the walls, both upstairs and down. A double-sided wood burning stove helps to add extra warmth to the living space, when needs must. To one end of the barn, a separate entrance lobby where wet jackets and dirty boots can be left to dry and clothes washed, with an adjacent wet room style shower on hand for washing sandy bodies and toes after a day on the beach, or a dip in the sea. Upstairs on the first floor you will find five, more traditionally furnished bedrooms (three double and two single), all enjoying quality mattresses and blessed with fine linen. If you want to break away from the crowd, you will find a quiet space on this level with cinema-style seating and a wall-mounted widescreen television for optional viewing. A further smart fully tiled shower room and a bathroom with bath with handheld shower on this floor completes the scene.

Field Barn Cottage is a fabulous holiday option for really getting away from it all - to chill out, relax and breath in some fresh air and amazing scenery. Particularly suitable for older families, couples and friends who will enjoy the peace and space. When you feel like stepping out, there is so much to do and see locally, both coastal and rural. Wine lovers and foodies will particularly enjoy a visit to Burn Valley Vineyard, which is just along the road and open all year round, and hosts wine tastings, delicious secret suppers and steak nights in the spring and over the summer months.
