The Barn

Burnham Overy Staithe, Norfolk

6

Sleeping up to 6 guests in rustic comfort, the Barn is a fantastic destination for anyone looking to enjoy a relaxing break on the beautiful North Norfolk coast, with easy access to all of Burnham Overy Staithe's amenities.

Tucked away through an original low arch set in a high chalked wall,The Barn offers both peace and privacy right in the heart of this pretty coastal hamlet, popular with birdwatchers, walkers and sailors. The comfortable accommodation is 'upside down', with a lovely triple aspect sitting room on the upper floor to take full advantage of the spectacular views to the creek and harbour. With a well-equipped kitchen and large dining area, three bedrooms (super king and double on the ground floor, and twin offering full size truckle beds option upstairs), and two bathrooms, this character property will appeal to a variety of holidaymakers across the year.

This is a fantastic spot if you just want to relax and unwind, but there's plenty to see and do, from right outside the front door, if you so wish. Take the mile long walk to one of Norfolk's most secluded beaches - a simply stunning, vast and sandy beach, ideal for picnics and endless beach walks - and don't forget to take along your binoculars, the birdlife is amazing. Explore the creeks in a kayak, have a summer early evening swim in the harbour (please make yourself aware of the tides, which can change very quickly), play a set or two of tennis on the village courts, stroll along to the local pub for a bite to eat, or catch the Coasthopper, and spend a day exploring the delightful neighbouring villages along this beautiful stretch of coastal North Norfolk.

Please note: There is an apartment above The Barn, that has shared access through the garden and courtyard. However the apartment is only occupied very occasionally throughout the year.

Burnham Overy Staithe is just delightful. A small coastal hamlet with a good pub/restaurant, it is home to Overy Staithe Sailing Club. The creek is spectacular in all weathers and the walk along the sea bank to the beach is very special. If the tide is out, you can walk across the marshes out to Scolt Head Island a National Trust nature reserve, or take the ferry which runs to and fro throughout the summer months. Although you can't see it, Overy beach is in walking distance, is often deserted and the wildlife is abundant. In season terns nest on the beach and are protected by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust. The Hero pub and restaurant is a couple of minutes' walk from the quayside and serves good food all day. Home to a National Trust-owned black windmill, a true North Norfolk landmark which dominates the skyline for miles. From Burnham Overy Staithe you can explore the whole of the North Norfolk coast, using the Coasthopper bus service that runs through the village. You are within easy reach of Holkham Hall, with its fabulous beach, chic and trendy Burnham Market with great places to eat and independent shops to browse, and Wells-next-the-Sea with its famous fish and chips, narrow gauge railway and colourful beach huts.
