The cottage combines modern amenities with antique furnishings, creating a comfortable atmosphere that reflects traditional country living. Situated to the west of Tattershall Castle, the property has historical significance, originally serving as a detached farmhouse from the late 18th or early 19th century. In the 1860s, it was repurposed into dwellings for agricultural laborers, and later, the estate was acquired by Nathanial, Lord Curzon of Kedleston, who restored the castle and left it to the National Trust in 1925.

Inside the cottage, guests will find a welcoming entrance hall that leads to a sitting room and a kitchen diner, which opens to the grounds of Tattershall Castle. The layout includes a shower room on the ground floor and two bedrooms upstairs, a double and a twin, both overlooking an enclosed lawn garden. The outdoor space features a patio area perfect for al fresco dining, allowing visitors to relax in the serene environment surrounding the cottage.

One of the unique advantages of staying at 1 Castle Cottage is the out-of-hours access to the grounds of Tattershall Castle, providing an opportunity to explore the historic site without the usual crowds. Additionally, the nearby village of Tattershall, just a 10-minute walk away, offers dining options at local pubs and features attractions like the grave of Tom Thumb, a legendary miniature folklore hero.

For those looking for activities, Tattershall Castle offers various walking trails along the Castle and the River Bain. Nearby, visitors can experience the Dogdyke Pumping Station's impressive beam steam engine or engage in water sports at Just Wake Water Park. If guests wish to venture further, Gunby Hall, another National Trust property, is a 30-minute drive away, while the historic city of Lincoln, known for its cathedral, castle, and vibrant shops, is also within reach. The stunning Lincolnshire coast, including Skegness beach, is just a 45-minute drive from the cottage, providing ample opportunities for outdoor enjoyment.
