2 Castle Cottages, located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, is a pleasing and cozy accommodation that seamlessly blends modern comforts with traditional decor. Positioned west of the Great Tower of Tattershall Castle, the cottage has historical roots as a detached farmhouse from the late 18th or early 19th century. In the 1860s, this farmhouse was divided into smaller dwellings for agricultural laborers. The estate, including the castle and cottages, was acquired in 1912 by Nathanial, Lord Curzon of Kedleston, who undertook restoration of Tattershall Castle and later bequeathed it to the National Trust in 1925.

Upon entering 2 Castle Cottages, guests are greeted by a hallway that leads to a well-equipped kitchen on the right and a small boiler room on the left. Continuing down the hallway, visitors will find a comfortable sitting room. The upstairs features a double bedroom with a spacious 5ft bed, which connects to a luxurious bathroom equipped with a slipper bath and a separate shower cubicle. The cottage also boasts an enclosed lawn area at the back, furnished with a table and two chairs, perfect for outdoor dining or relaxing with a cup of tea.

Guests at 2 Castle Cottages enjoy exclusive after-hours access to the grounds of Tattershall Castle, allowing for peaceful exploration of the historic site. The area offers various activities, including walking trails around the castle and along the nearby River Bain. The quaint village of Tattershall, located just a 10-minute walk away, features two pubs for dining and is steeped in local folklore, including the legend of Tom Thumb, a miniature hero said to have lived to 101 years old.

For those seeking additional adventure, nearby attractions include the Dogdyke Pumping Station with its impressive beam steam engine and Just Wake Water Park, which offers wakeboarding and other water activities. Further afield, the National Trust property of Gunby Hall is a 30-minute drive, while the historic city of Lincoln, known for its cathedral, castle, museums, and shops, is also within easy reach. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the expansive green countryside surrounding the area, as well as the Lincolnshire coast, including Skegness beach, just a 45-minute drive away.
