Newtown Cabin

Newtown, Isle Of Wight

4

Located in Newtown on the Isle of Wight, this tranquil two-bedroom cabin retreat is an ideal getaway for birdwatchers and walkers. Originally constructed in the 1930s for processing oyster catch, the cabin now serves as a cozy bolthole with stunning estuary views and abundant opportunities for nature spotting, including sightings of rare butterflies and red squirrels. The cabin is situated on the island's only National Nature Reserve, providing a serene environment for guests seeking relaxation and outdoor exploration.

The cabin features a contemporary color scheme that complements its natural surroundings. All accommodations are on a single floor, including a welcoming living room with a woodburner, perfect for warming up after outdoor adventures. The dog-friendly retreat can comfortably sleep four guests in two bedrooms—one twin and one double—along with a shower room and a charming kitchen/dining area. Outside, a small garden offers expansive views of the estuary, ideal for enjoying alfresco meals in a picturesque setting.

Guests are encouraged to explore the former salt pans of the nature reserve, which are now home to a variety of rare and unusual wildlife. Numerous walking trails are accessible, leading through flower-filled meadows, along coastal paths, and into dappled woodlands. For beach enthusiasts, nearby Compton and Brook beaches are dog-friendly during the off-season and feature unspoiled sandy stretches, perfect for a day of relaxation or activities like surfing and bodyboarding.

The closest pub to the cabin is in Shalfleet, while the charming town of Yarmouth, approximately five miles away, offers cobbled streets, a deli, grocery store, coffee shops, and additional pubs. Cowes, known for its annual Cowes Week regatta in August, is just a 15-minute drive from the cabin and is worth a visit. History buffs will also enjoy exploring nearby National Trust sites, including Mottistone with its beautiful gardens and the Needles Battery, a historical rocket testing site. Staying at this cabin not only provides a memorable experience but also contributes to the preservation of special places for future generations.
