Located in the small coastal resort of St Helens on the Isle of Wight, this charming property sleeps 4 people and is just a short walk from the local pub, restaurant, and shop. Situated overlooking the village green, the cottage offers a central position in the resort, where cricket matches are sometimes played, and the St. Helens carnival takes place each August Bank Holiday weekend. The nearby beach provides a great spot for swimming and paddling, while larger seaside towns like Ryde and Sandown are a quick drive away.
Surrounded by the beautiful National Trust area, guests can enjoy picturesque walks and stunning views of the island. Nearby attractions include Osborne House, Cowes, and Parkhurst Forest, known for its red squirrels. The Grade II listed thatched cottage dates back over 300 years and retains many original features such as exposed beams and fireplaces. The kitchen/diner is well-equipped with modern appliances, and the cozy lounge features comfortable seating and a TV/DVD player. The bathroom on the ground floor includes an electric shower over the bath and a WC.
Upstairs, there are two lovely bedrooms, one double and one twin, both with original fireplaces and views of the village green and downs. An additional z bed is available upon request for children up to 13 years old. Outside, fenced gardens at the front and rear of the property offer a peaceful retreat with a patio and garden furniture for outdoor dining. Parking is available on the road opposite the cottage when space permits. This self-contained property occupies the larger part of a detached stone cottage, with the owners occasionally using the smaller adjoining section as a retreat.
