This very simple, lovingly restored building offers basic, rustic accommodation ideal for walkers needing an over-night stop. Located in the heart of Snowdonia, Llyndy bothy is only a 15 minute walk from the Watkin path – considered to be the toughest route to the summit of Snowdon.
The bothy consists of a single downstairs room with a sink and cold-water tap (not drinking water) and two double-bed sleeping platforms. Two more single-sleeping platforms are located in the loft area, accessed via a ladder. There is a toilet in a neighbouring outbuilding but there are no other facilities. Guests will need to bring their own airbeds, sleeping mats and bedding and cooking facilities.
Surrounded by meadow land, and with views over nearby Llyn Dinas, Llyndy Bothy offers an idyllic retreat from modern life. There are lovely walks in the area – the pretty village of Beddgelert is only a 4 mile walk away with Sygun copper mine en route. If you are after some more adrenaline-fuelled adventure you can find that nearby too, with Zip World adventures, Bounce Below, Surf Snowdonia or Zip World Fforest Adventures to name a few.
Self-catering cottage holidays in the UK and Ireland can still be a green option. You can have the comforts of home and the flexibility to do what you want; when you want - without the hassles of air travel!
