HAFOD COTTAGE is a spacious stone cottage located in a 30-acre privately owned woodland in Blaenau Ffestiniog, Gwynedd, Wales. The cottage has been renovated and furnished with wooden and slate floors, featuring a large wood-burning stove in the main living area that heats radiators and hot water. Surrounded by a private garden with outdoor seating, the cottage offers a peaceful retreat in a picturesque setting.
Access to the cottage is via a track that may be challenging for some vehicles, with steps leading down to the property. Powered by mains electricity, wind, and solar energy, guests are encouraged to be mindful of energy usage. The surrounding area overlooks the Vale of Ffestiniog, providing opportunities for walking, bird watching, mountain biking, and swimming. Nearby attractions include a swimming lake, the Plas Halt request stop of the Ffestiniog Railway, and the village of Maentwrog with its pubs.
Dog owners are welcome at Hafod Cottage, with a limit of two dogs per stay. It is important to bring bedding and towels for pets and ensure they do not go on furniture. A woodland pasture scheme is set to begin in 2020, introducing cows to graze on the land and create a diverse habitat for wildlife. The location of the cottage, 10 miles from both sandy beaches and Snowdon, makes it an ideal base for exploring Snowdonia and the surrounding area.
Situated in a rural area on a lake, Hafod Cottage offers a tranquil escape with easy access to outdoor activities such as fishing, swimming, cycling, and ecotours. Local landmarks like the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways and Y Lasynys Fawr, as well as the natural beauty of Eryri National Park and Portmeirion Sands, are within reach. Families traveling with children can enjoy nearby attractions like Hufenfa'r Castell and Go Ape at Coed y Brenin.
