Set on a working farm at the base of Snowdon, Cartref offers simple accommodation in a spectacular setting. Surrounded by rugged countryside and with excellent walking trails right on the doorstep, the cottage is a great base to discover all that Snowdonia has to offer. Inside, the cottage has a back-to-basics feel with a compact but cosy interior. Due to Cartref’s small size, there is no shower inside the cottage but guests can make use of the campsite shower facilities a short walk away.
Wake up early and enjoy the panoramic views of the mountains and woodland, then grab your walking boots and head out onto the Watkins Path, one of the main trails up Snowdon. Or you could go further afield to the Carneddau mountain range. After a day rambling over the hills, sit out on the garden bench to relax and watch the sunset.
If you feel like taking a break from hiking the trails, spend a day exploring the enchanting gardens at Plas Newydd House or visit the Railway Museum at Penrhyn Castle. Just a short drive from the cottage, the town of Betws Y Coed offers an array of art galleries, shops, pubs and restaurants.
