A storybook country cottage for four people, on a secluded Cotswold estate.
Lion Lodge is a pretty gatehouse at the entrance to the Newark Park Estate, with countryside views, woodland walks and garden strolls from the doorstep.
There’s a sitting room, dining room with a cosy log burner, bathroom and a kitchen which leads outside. Both the bedrooms, one double and one twin, are upstairs. You’ll find vibrant colours and comfortable touches throughout.
The cottage is a grade II listed building built by Rev Lewis Clutterbuck c1794, and it is likely that it would have reflected the gothic style of the main house and of Lower Lodge, the other holiday lodge on the Newark estate of the same period.
The estate sits on top of the Cotswold escarpment where views of the Ozleworth valley and the Mendip Hills unfold. You’ll find miles of walks past the main house, gardens and through the woodlands. A nature reserve and the footpath for the Cotswold Way are nearby.
Self-catering cottage holidays in the UK and Ireland can still be a green option. You can have the comforts of home and the flexibility to do what you want; when you want - without the hassles of air travel!
