The Dovecote is a newly renovated barn located in Saffron Walden, Essex, in the East of England. This Grade II listed building is situated on a working arable farm in a remote setting in the Essex countryside, next to a small duck pond and overlooking the farmyard and local church. The two-storey brick and oak framed building has been finished to a high standard, with a 'one-up, one-down' layout that is perfect for a rural getaway.
The ground floor of The Dovecote features a living room area with a cosy log burner, a dining area, and a well-equipped bespoke kitchenette made from potato boxes. The first floor reveals a luxury kingsize bed under the beautifully exposed original oak beamed roof, along with storage options and a discreet TV. The en-suite shower/bathroom has a partial-glass wall and a bespoke sink cabinet made from old farm tools and elm tree.
The kitchen is equipped with a fan oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle, and radio. The accommodation also features underfloor heating throughout and a log burner during winter. Outside, there is a shingle courtyard with seating, and WIFI is now installed. The Dovecote is located in Langley, Essex, within walking distance of the local pub The Bull, and close to amenities in Clavering and Saffron Walden. Newport and Audley End railway stations are nearby, offering direct trains to Cambridge and London.
Due to its remote location on a working farm, a car is needed to access The Dovecote. Guests should be aware that there may be increased activity on the farm during certain times of the year, such as harvest season. The surrounding area offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities, including walking, cycling, and fishing. National Trust destinations and Audley End House & Estate are nearby attractions worth exploring during your stay.
