This charming cottage is one end of a terrace of redbrick cottages built as barracks to house the soldiers building the Royal Military Canal to repel an invasion by Napoleon's troops. It is just steps from the centre of Rye with its quaint cobbled streets and wealth of restaurants, cafes, pubs and eclectic range of individual shops. The banks of the Military Canal are now a haven to bird and wildlife with lovely walks towards the delightful village of Appledore. Nearby is Camber Sands with miles of dunes and opportunities for watersports, plus Camber Castle and the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve are well worth a visit. Shop: 0.25 mile Pub: 50 yards Coast: 1 mile
