Candlemas House, to which the studio is attached, is a converted granary - originally part of the adjoining working farm of medieval origin. Alciston is on a no-through road, it has an award winning pub and direct footpath accesss to the Downs, the Southdown Way and the Old Coach Road to Firle and Berwick  Glyndebourne is a ten minute drive away. Notes: There are stations at Berwick and Polegate for trains to Gatwick, London, Brighton, Hastings and Ashford International for Eurostar. There is a Victorian post box immediately opposite the studio entrance with mail collections 6 days a week.
