St Dogmaels village, named after a sixth-century monk, is located on the estuary of the River Teifi and is approximately a mile from the historic town of Cardigan. The village boasts a wide open beach at Poppit Sands to the west, popular with surfers and known for its sea life and fishing. Additionally, the Welsh Coastal Path runs on both sides of the village, offering scenic walks for visitors.
In St Dogmaels, visitors can explore a variety of shops, pubs, and tea rooms, as well as visit the 12th-century Tironian Abbey, where Shakespeare performances by the Abbey Players are held during the summer. Nearby attractions include the castles of Cardigan and Cilgerran, as well as the Preseli Mountains, known for their ancient sites such as Bedd Arthur.
