The property is situated on the edge of the Galloway Forest Park, which is Britain's First Dark Sky Park, making it an ideal location for a wilderness holiday. There are various outdoor activities available nearby, such as walking on the Southern Upland Way, fishing in local lochs, and mountain biking at Kirroughtree.

For those interested in golf or pony trekking, there are options within a short drive. The town of Stranraer offers amenities such as swimming, a leisure centre, shopping, and dining. The ferry port of Cairnryan is also close by, providing opportunities for day trips to Ireland. Additionally, the renowned Turnberry golf course in Ayrshire is located 30 miles away, and Wigtown, known for its book festival, is approximately 45 minutes from the property.

High Mark is let on a weekly basis from Friday to Friday, with short breaks available between the end of October and Easter. The property features a lounge with an open fire, a sitting room, a dining room, and a kitchen on the ground floor. Upstairs, there are two double bedrooms, one single bedroom with a truckle bed, and a bathroom. Amenities include oil and electric heating, Wi-fi, Sky T.V, a CD player, a cot, a high chair, and ample parking. Pets are allowed with an additional charge, and they must be kept under control due to livestock in surrounding fields.
