Located in Meikle Killantrae, Whauphill, Newton Stewart in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, Burnside is a charming detached holiday cottage that sleeps 5 people in 3 bedrooms. Built in the 1850s, the cottage is tucked away off a quiet country lane and features enclosed front and back gardens where guests can enjoy a BBQ with local meats and lobster, while watching various bird and wildlife species. The kitchen is well-equipped with utensils, sharp knives, an espresso machine, dishwasher, and more. A log burner with free wood keeps the cottage cozy in winter, and free Wi-Fi is available.
In 2022, a new bathroom with a powerful shower over the bath was fitted, offering plenty of storage space. The three lovely bedrooms with garden views include a double, a single, and a twin room with zip and link beds that can convert into a kingsize double. The cottage is a great base for exploring Galloway's coastline with sandy beaches and rocky coves, as well as for activities like walking (Southern Upland Way, Galloway Forest Park), cycling (7 Stanes Kirroughtree), golf (St Medans), and fishing (river, loch, or sea). Birdwatching enthusiasts can enjoy spotting the 35 species that have been seen in the garden by visitors.
Burnside is just over a mile from the fishing village of Port William, which offers a shop, cafe, and takeaway. All bed linen and towels are provided, but unfortunately, pets are not allowed. The cottage is located in a rural area near the sea, with local landmarks such as Torhouse Stone Circle and Cairn Holy Chambered Cairn. Activities like mountain biking, horse riding, fishing, and swimming can be enjoyed nearby, making Burnside an ideal retreat for families or groups looking to explore the natural beauty of Dumfries and Galloway.
