The Old School sleeps up to 6 people in a beautiful country cottage which once served as the village schoolhouse. Retaining such features as vaulted rooms, Gothic arched doors, and even the original school bell, you're sure to find yourself charmed by this unique getaway, which is located in South Perrott, a peaceful village on Dorset's border with Somerset with its own inn and parish church.
On the ground floor you'll find a comfortable, well furnished sitting room with a traditional woodburning stove and a plasma TV. For self-catering, there's an open-plan kitchen and dining room which comes with an oil-fired AGA cooker, a halogen hob, a convection oven, a microwave, and a fridge-freezer, as well as a dishwasher for cleaning up afterwards. There's also a double bedroom on the ground floor, which can also be made up as a twin room if preferred, as well as a wet room with a walk-in shower and WC.
On the first floor you'll find two twin bedrooms, each of which can be converted to a double if required. One of these bedrooms comes with a plasma TV and air conditioning. There's also a family bathroom with a bath and power shower.
The Old School also boasts plenty of outdoor space, with a fully enclosed walled garden which includes a pond, garden furniture, and a barbecue, as well as a loggia with power and lighting, covered by a tiled roof and open on two sides. More practically, there's an outside utility area which contains a washing machine and tumble dryer.
Self-catering cottage holidays in the UK and Ireland can still be a green option. You can have the comforts of home and the flexibility to do what you want; when you want - without the hassles of air travel!
