You’ll find this welcoming Victorian cottage at the heart of the working farm in Purbeck, (the farmer and his three dogs live next door) perfect for a relaxed stay away from the crowds. Tractor lovers young and old will enjoy watching daily farm life unfold, and the beautiful wooden floors, stone interior, handmade kitchen and cosy feel will win over everyone else.

Although there’s a traditional feel to this cottage, hiding under its stone roof is a contemporary and snug holiday retreat you’ll love. The conventional layout gives a homely feel and downstairs there’s the living room with woodburner, then the kitchen/diner at the back of the cottage with a small utility room just off it. Upstairs is the modern bathroom and two double bedrooms, brilliant for either a small family or group of friends. Head outside to discover the large garden with its seating area and lawn. You can also explore the converted stone carving shed in the garden where you’ll find a woodburner, table and chairs – great for gathering everyone together for a games tournament.

This wonderful location makes a great base for exploring Purbeck, and walkers will love being right on the South West Coast Path, and the Priest Way (not forgetting the Square and Compass pub). For birdwatchers, the nearby cliffs, a 15-minute walk away, are perfect for spotting a variety of seabirds, including characterful puffins. And if you prefer your activities to have a bit more adrenaline, then the same cliffs are also world renowned for climbing and coasteering. For those craving some chilled beach time, then head for Swanage or Studland, both less than a 15-minute drive away.

When you’ve exhausted what’s on your doorstep, and had your fill of beach life, then pop to either Bournemouth or Poole for the distraction of shops, bars and restaurants. Or walkers can also head further afield to take in more of the incredible Jurassic Coast which stretches away for miles. Other ideas for places to visit include Monkey World and the Bovington Tank Museum, and nearby National Trust places include Corfe Castle, the wonderful Brownsea Island (home to a very cute resident red squirrel population), and Kingston Lacy.
