Fiddlers Green

Poole, Dorset

4

Fiddlers Green is a tempting cottage located in Hamworthy, on the outskirts of Poole, Dorset, a region rich in maritime history. This area was originally inhabited by an Iron Age settlement and later became a Roman site in the 1st century when Emperor Vespasian established the Second Augustan Legion at the harbour. The cottage itself dates back to the 1700s, making it one of the original properties in the area, and it features a variety of characterful elements that highlight its historic charm.

The cottage offers comfortable accommodation for up to four guests, with a semi open-plan layout on the ground floor. This includes a combined sitting and dining room equipped with a double-sided wood-burning stove, as well as a small sunroom that enhances the living space. The ground floor also features a tempting kitchen with a beamed ceiling and a wet room complete with an overhead shower, WC, and hand basin. Upstairs, guests will find a spacious king-size bedroom, a twin bedroom, and a family bathroom that includes a roll-top bath and a separate walk-in shower enclosure.

Outside, the cottage boasts a lovely garden where guests can unwind with their morning coffee while planning their adventures. Just a short walk from the property is Hamworthy Park, a picturesque 26-acre area that includes a harbour beach, expansive playing fields, and stunning views of the National Trust-owned Brownsea Island. This park provides a perfect setting for outdoor activities and relaxation by the water's edge.

Visitors to Fiddlers Green can easily explore the surrounding attractions, including a stroll along the waterfront to Poole Quay, where regular boat services provide access to Brownsea Island, known for its nature reserve and historical significance as the birthplace of the scout movement. Additionally, nature enthusiasts can visit Holes Bay Nature Park, which is within walking distance. The nearby towns of Poole and Bournemouth offer a diverse range of dining options, shopping venues, and entertainment, including The Lighthouse Theatre and the Bournemouth International Centre, making it an ideal location for both relaxation and exploration.
