Cottage In Swanage, Dorset

Swanage, Dorset

4

Located in Swanage, Dorset in the South West of England, this charming cottage sleeps 4 and boasts a range of features including a nearby pub, proximity to the coast, and an open fire. The seaside town of Swanage offers a variety of attractions such as a beautiful bay with a golden sandy beach, shops, galleries, restaurants, cafes, and pubs suitable for all ages. Visitors can explore the Victorian Pier, go Mackerel fishing, take a fishing trip or boat tour from the harbour, or walk along the stunning Jurassic coastline via the South West Coast Path. Additionally, the area is home to picturesque villages like Langton and Worth Matravers, as well as the historic Corfe Castle ruins cared for by the National Trust.

This Grade II listed former quarryman's cottage, dating back to 1750, has been refurbished in 2019 to blend contemporary comfort with original features. The small, well-equipped galley kitchen leads to a cosy lounge with a traditional flagstone floor and wood burner fireplace, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms - a comfortable king-size and a cosy bunk bedroom - which share a Jack and Jill style bathroom with a hand-held shower over the bath and WC. Due to the property's age, there are areas of restricted head height, steep stairs, changes of level, and beams throughout, making it unsuitable for those with restricted mobility, very tall guests, or children under 3 years old.

Outside, a small courtyard area offers distant views over the Purbeck hills, ideal for enjoying morning coffee. The courtyard is enclosed by a low stone wall, in keeping with the property's period features. A roadside parking space for one car is available at the front of the property. With its historic charm, modern amenities, and convenient location in Swanage, this delightful cottage provides a comfortable and unique base for exploring the Dorset coast and countryside.
