Nearby, the historic market town of Dorchester offers independent shops, pubs, cafes, and restaurants, as well as attractions linked to Thomas Hardy, such as his birthplace in Higher Bockhampton and his home at Max Gate. Other local sites include Maiden Castle, Jordan Hill Roman Temple, and Clouds Hill, the former retreat of T E Lawrence. For a day at the coast, the popular resort of Weymouth is just 11 miles away, offering a sandy beach, seaside amusements, and a vibrant harbour.

Set at the end of an unmade track among original farm workers cottages, the cottage features a spacious open plan lounge/kitchen/diner with a vaulted ceiling and exposed beams. The lounge includes plenty of seating, a Smart TV/DVD, and a wood burner, while the dining area is perfect for family meals. The charming kitchen is well-equipped with an oven, microwave, washing machine, and fridge with an ice compartment. A cozy double bedroom and bathroom with a shower over the bath are located on the ground floor, while a spiral staircase leads up to a small gallery and a twin bedroom with low, sloping ceilings.

Outside, there is a grassy area at the front of the cottage crossed by a public footpath, as well as a large L-shaped back garden with lawn, trees, and shrubs that overlook acres of fields. Outdoor furniture is provided for guests to relax with a drink and enjoy the views.
