Sandford Cottage is a charming retreat located on Southmoor Farm in Axminster, Devon, in the South West of England. Situated near the picturesque village of Hawkchurch and just 5 miles from Lyme Regis and the Jurassic Coast, the cottage offers a peaceful and secluded getaway. The farm spans approximately 40 acres, with untouched 'wild' areas including woodland, meadows, a lake, ponds, and streams, making it a haven for bird watchers and wildlife enthusiasts. Guests may spot deer, foxes, badgers, and other wildlife, creating a nature reserve-like atmosphere.

The cottage itself was rebuilt in 1989 using local stone, solid walls, and low exposed timber beamed ceilings. Recently refurbished, the accommodation features an open plan sitting room and kitchen with modern amenities such as an oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, washing machine, and tumble dryer. The sitting room boasts a large inglenook fireplace with a wood burner, along with comfortable furnishings and a flat screen television. A staircase leads to the bedroom with a king size bed, flat screen television, wardrobe, and furniture, while the spacious fully tiled shower room includes a vanity unit and heated towel rail.

Heating is provided by night storage heaters and the wood burner, with logs supplied at no extra charge. Electricity is metered using £1 coins. Sandford Cottage offers a peaceful and cozy retreat for two guests, ideal for a romantic getaway or a relaxing break in the countryside. Nearby attractions include the East Devon and Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Marine Theatre, Lyme Regis Museum, and Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium. Outdoor activities such as motor boating, fishing, horse riding, and cycling are also available in the area, ensuring a memorable stay for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
