Located in Kingsbridge, Devon in the South West of England, Landward Cottage at Start Point Lighthouse is a holiday rental that sleeps five guests. Situated on a cliff edge, the cottage offers stunning panoramic views of the sea to the south and west, as well as across Start Bay to the east. The lighthouse itself was built in 1863, electrified in 1959, and automated in 1993. Access to the lighthouse involves a half-mile private, walled, tarmac drive shared with walkers on the South West Coast Path.

Guests staying at Landward Cottage can enjoy clifftop walks in both directions along the coast path, with sandy beaches such as East Portlemouth, Slapton, and Blackpool Sands all within a 20-minute drive. The cottage is also in close proximity to Beacon Cottage, which accommodates six guests. Visitors should be aware that the lighthouse is open to the public from 10am-5pm Easter to October, and maintenance staff may visit at any time during the year for regular or emergency maintenance.

Certain features of the heritage building, such as steps, stairs, and floor levels, may not comply with modern building standards, so guests are advised to exercise caution. The cottage provides limited mobile signal, with an honesty box telephone available for use. While Wi-Fi is available for light browsing, streaming and gaming may not be possible due to speed limitations. Guests are welcome to bring their own barbecue, but fireworks, drones, and electric car charging are not permitted on the premises.

Up to two well-behaved dogs are allowed for a small additional charge, and a travel cot and highchair can be provided upon request. Infants under one year are welcome, but children must be over 11 years old for safety reasons. The lighthouse operates an automatic electronic fog signal, with ear plugs provided during foggy conditions for guest comfort. Overall, Landward Cottage at Start Point Lighthouse offers a unique and memorable holiday experience in a historic and picturesque setting.
