The Leat at The Old Mill is a charming, self-contained annexe located in Tavistock, Devon, in the South West of England. Situated near the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this 2-person accommodation is attached to a 600-year-old converted water mill in a tranquil and romantic setting. The Old Mill, originally a Corn Mill built in the mid-1400s by the Abbots of Tavistock, offers unrivaled peace and quiet, surrounded by natural beauty on the western edge of Dartmoor.
The Leat was built as a sympathetic stone addition to the Old Mill, situated in what used to be the mill leat feeding water to the wheel and brook. The surrounding valley serves as an unspoilt oasis for wildlife, with regular sightings of various animals and birds. The accommodation itself is equipped with modern conveniences, including a fully equipped kitchenette, dining and seating areas, high-speed broadband, a 4K TV, luxury king-size mattress, and a stylish, neutral decor. Guests also have access to the mill-race sunken garden, outdoor dining area, BBQ, and secluded orchard with a shepherd's hut and fire pit for stargazing.
The hosts, Viv and Howard, have created a welcoming environment for guests of all backgrounds, including members of the LGBT+ community. Their attention to detail ensures a spotlessly clean and comfortable stay, with extra precautions taken for sanitation in light of COVID-19. While the Leat adjoins the main house, guests enjoy privacy in the cleverly secluded areas designated for their use. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed due to the cats on the property, but guests can enjoy the company of the friendly Border Terrier. Overall, guests can expect a special and relaxing experience at The Leat at The Old Mill, where respect for the home is met with exceptional hospitality.
