Standing alone on a vast expanse of heather moorland with all-encompassing views of the Peak District, White Edge Lodge is sure to sure excite. Its dramatic location is due to its former use as a gamekeeper’s cottage. You’ll notice much of its original features remain inside, such as exposed brick walls, wooden beams and most intriguing of all, the former game cellar, which now hosts the kitchen. Its highlight though, is most definitely the upstairs roll-top bath which looks out over 20-miles of stunning views.
Rise early and head out into the hazy moors. If you’d like to follow a trail head to our shop on the Longshaw estate, just a five minute drive from the cottage, and pick a walking map. Walks will lead you through the iconic Dark Peak landscape, past tumbling streams and through ancient woodlands. You could also join a guided tour with one of our volunteers, which start at the Longshaw tea-rooms.
Beyond the moors, the industrial city of Sheffield is less than 10 miles away from the cottage. Discover this historical city with its wide range of museums, galleries, restaurants and cafes.
