Located near Helston in Cornwall, Lizard Lighthouse is a historic and fully operational lighthouse that has been guiding mariners since its establishment in 1619. The lighthouse features two distinctive white towers, which were constructed in 1751 by the entrepreneur Thomas Fonnereau. This iconic structure was first illuminated on August 22 of the same year, marking a significant milestone in maritime navigation.

In 1771, control of the lighthouse was transferred to Trinity House, the organization responsible for the management and operation of lighthouses in England. This partnership has ensured the lighthouse's continued functionality and upkeep over the years. The lighthouse has undergone several modernizations, including electrification in 1924, which enhanced its visibility and efficiency, and full automation in 1998, allowing it to operate without the need for a resident keeper.

The Lizard Lighthouse boasts an impressive light range of 26 miles, making it a vital beacon for ships navigating the waters off the coast of Cornwall. Additionally, it is equipped with an automatic fog signal that activates during misty conditions, emitting sound signals up to three miles away to alert vessels in low visibility.

For visitors, the lighthouse area offers accommodations that can sleep up to eight people, making it a suitable destination for families or groups. The location is pet-friendly, allowing guests to bring their furry companions along. Furthermore, the nearby pub provides a convenient option for dining and socializing, enhancing the overall experience of staying at this remarkable historical site.
