Located near Helston, Cornwall in the South West of England, Lizard Lighthouse offers accommodation for up to 6 guests. Situated on the Southern-most tip of mainland Britain, the six adjacent cottages provide stunning coastal views and access to scenic walks. The nearby Lizard Village offers shops, restaurants, and a pub just a short distance away.
Originally established in 1619, Lizard Lighthouse features two distinctive white towers that were built in 1751 by Thomas Fonnereau. Trinity House took control of the lighthouse in 1771 and continues to operate it today. The lighthouse was electrified in 1924 and fully automated in 1998, with a 26 mile light range and a 3 mile automatic fog signal for misty conditions.
Guests should be aware that Lizard Lighthouse is an operational lighthouse with an automatic fog signal. While babies under 10 months are welcome, children must be over 5 years old for safety reasons. Pets are not allowed on the property, and there is limited WiFi and mobile signal. Regular maintenance visits may occur, and the narrow access roads and heritage building features should be noted for safety.
Certain amenities such as a travel cot, highchair, and telephone with honesty box are provided. Guests are reminded to supervise children at all times due to the location and surroundings. Barbecues, fireworks, drones, and charging electric cars are not permitted on the property. Overall, Lizard Lighthouse offers a unique and historic accommodation experience with breathtaking views and access to beautiful coastal walks.
