Pont Pill Farm House

With beautiful Pont Quay on your doorstep, Pont Pill Farm House has a private outdoor dining spot with estuary views on top of the old lime kiln, and inside, there’s a similarly stunning view from the sitting room which also has a log burner perfect for chillier evenings.

On the southern bank of Pont Pill, Pont Pill Farm House also served as a busy quayside pub called The Ship. Now converted to a comfortable holiday cottage, the honey-coloured house is full of attractive features and plenty of character from previous times. With three bedrooms upstairs, and sleeping five, the cottage is great for small groups of friends or family, and you can get everyone together round the farmhouse-style table in the kitchen.

Outdoor life at Pont Pill focusses on the quay which is perfect for wildlife spotting (look out for herons and kingfishers or set a crab line up from the footbridge). If getting active on the water is more your thing then you’ll see kayakers, paddle boarders and other small craft bobbing around. And should you already have a boat of your own, then you’re also welcome to launch from the private quay (max. 11 foot boat length). Walkers will also love Hall Walk enjoyed by ramblers taking in two ferry rides across the estuary.

After the calm of the creek has worked its magic, then the bustling town of Fowey is close, and can either be reached from Polruan by passenger ferry, or by car crossing at Bodinnick. Stop off for a bite to eat at the fantastic places that are found on both sides of the river, along the coast and inland. If you’re craving beach life, then the glorious beaches around Lantic Bay are also nearby. Further afield enjoy the historic National Trust properties of Lanhydrock, Cotehele and Antony and discover the old fishing towns of Looe and Polperro.
