Nestling in the lush woodlands of the Trelissick estate, is this pretty white-washed cottage. Once lived in by the estate’s gardener, Mr Ernie Ferris, it sits on the eastern edge of the estate, but still within walking distance to its exotic gardens and the main house. Step inside to a beautifully restored 18th-century building, where low beamed ceilings and a log-burner meet contemporary interior styling. It has two bedrooms with small peeping windows that overlook the valley and down towards the River Fal.
There are 300 acres of countryside to explore on the estate, with the river surrounding three sides. At the bottom of the parkland, there’s a small sandy beach for you to laze on. Lots of events take place here throughout the year, from parkruns to canoeing courses.
Hop on the King Harry Ferry for trips along the river to St Mawes. From here you can loop onto the South West Coast Path for day long hikes along the headlands of the Roseland Peninsula.
