The Lugger

Boscastle, Cornwall

Pull back the curtains, watch the river tumble past and hear the gulls squawk as this small fishing village comes to life. Just up from the harbour is this river-side, white-washed cottage. It’s a former pilchard cellar that houses three holiday homes – The Lugger occupying the second floor. 

From the main bedroom, views of the winding River Valency and the surrounding headlands unfold. Other highlights include its sun terrace and a unique shared garden that sits atop a limekiln. The Lugger is in the heart of Boscastle, where you’ll be able to wander around its old pubs and crooked cottages. 

You can also loop onto the South West Coast Path where the cliffs of Penally Point and the wooded Valency Valley, rich in Thomas Hardy history, unravel. The closest sandy beach is Trebarwith Strand, which is just five miles to the south west.
