It’s hard to imagine a position more perfect for a holiday cottage; with the waves gently crashing below the front garden and views extending over the Helford River. The cottage itself is aesthetically perfect too, with its 18th-century stone and slate exterior, small dormer windows and a bright rustic interior. Step inside and you’ll immediately be greeted with beamed ceilings, slate floors and a cosy log-burner.
Durgan Quay Cottage sits at the edge of Durgan village, with only a handful of cottages around. Sheltered from Atlantic gales, you’ll have the benefit of being in one of the mildest corners of the country, with a south-facing beach just outside your door.
The South West Coast Path runs through the village, offering links to vast stretches of coastline. Head east from Durgan along the river and out to Falmouth bay. Head west from Durgan along the Helford Passage, where a passenger ferry runs across the river to the idyllic Helford village and the Lizard peninsula.
Self-catering cottage holidays in the UK and Ireland can still be a green option. You can have the comforts of home and the flexibility to do what you want; when you want - without the hassles of air travel!
