The Canyack

Penzance, Cornwall

2

Go back 150 years or so, and you’d find a Cornish miner living in this old stone cottage. After a careful and award-winning restoration, the cottage now hosts a beautiful holiday home with lots of character. Low-beamed ceilings, wood-panelled walls and a warming log-burner give The Canyack a real cosy atmosphere. It sits high on the slopes of the secluded Cot Valley, with ocean-views peeking through the tall pine trees.

You’ll be in the midst of the Tin Coast, a World Heritage site defined by Cornish mining history. A seven-mile stretch reveals remnants of the once thriving mining industry, including the iconic Crown Engine Houses that cling to the cliffs. If you’re a Poldark fan, you’ll feel as if you have stepped into a scene from the BBC series, as many of the scenes were filmed here.

Further afield, the cottage is in an ideal situation for visitors to the far west of Cornwall. Located on the edge of the moors and close to the beautiful north coast, the cottage is just eight miles west of Penzance.
