A beautifully renovated thatched cottage in the picturesque village of Over, located just a short distance away from the city of Cambridge. The cottage, dating back to the early 18th century, has been newly renovated with modern amenities while still maintaining its historic charm. The layout of the cottage is rather quirky, as it was originally two separate cottages, with two small bedrooms on each side of the property, totaling four bedrooms in all. The maximum number of guests allowed is 5 adults/children or 6 if one guest is a small child.
The downstairs living area is open plan with three parts to the living room and a breakfast room adjoining the kitchen, which overlooks a private garden with an apple tree. The garden also features a children's playhouse, suitable for 2-3 children aged 3-10, which must be supervised at all times. The property is equipped with plenty of lamps for lighting, as there are no central overhead lights. Mobile reception in Over is very poor, but there is WiFi available throughout most areas of the cottage.
Parking space for one car is provided in the driveway, with additional cars needing to be parked on the roadside. The property owner generally does not accept short stay bookings more than 3-4 months in advance, as she likes to use the cottage herself. The cottage is located near Cambridge, with various attractions and activities in the surrounding area, such as golf clubs, wildlife walks, and museums. Overall, the cottage offers a peaceful and charming retreat for guests looking to explore the historic city of Cambridge and its surrounding countryside.
