The Lookout is a unique and charming holiday cottage located in Campbeltown, Argyll, Scotland. It was originally a wartime signal station and has been lovingly converted into a comfortable and secluded retreat for two guests. Situated on a hilltop 100 yards above the Davaar Island Lighthouse, The Lookout offers outstanding views up Kilbrannan Sound and across to Arran and Ailsa Craig. Pets are allowed at this cottage, which also features an open fire for cozy evenings.
The cottage has one bedroom with a comfortable king size bed, heated mattress topper, and 100% cotton bed linen. The ensuite bathroom includes a shower, and there is an open plan kitchen/sitting room on the ground floor with a wood burning stove. Guests can enjoy the Observatory on the second floor, complete with a resident telescope, comfortable seating, and a roof terrace for stargazing next to the fire pit. The original internal ladder provides access between the sitting room and observatory, but it is not suitable for children or those with mobility issues.
Prices for The Lookout include full bed linen, towels, essential supplies, and complimentary local whisky, gin, and eggs. Guests are provided with a transfer to and from the island in a 4x4 vehicle driven by an experienced driver. The cottage is located in a rural area and on the beach, with nearby landmarks such as Kildonan Dun Ruins and Saddell Abbey. Activities such as game walks, birdwatching, and exploring the local area are recommended for guests staying at The Lookout.
